  • In Sumerian Mythology, the Gods Enki or Enlil create a servant for the Gods out of clay and blood. In another Sumerian story, both Enki and Ninmah create additional humans from clay.

  • In the Epic of Gilgamesh, Enkidu is created by the Goddess Aruru out of clay to be a partner for Gilgamesh.

  • According to Egyptian mythology the God Khnum creates human children from clay before placing them into their mother's womb.

  • According to Chinese mythology, Nuwa molded figures from the yellow Earth.

  • In the Babylonian creation epic Enuma Elish, the Goddess Ninhursag created humans from clay.

  • According to Hindu mythology the mother of Ganesh, Parvati, made Ganesh from clay and turned the clay into flesh and blood.

  • According to Laotian folk religion, humans were created from dirt and mud and clay.

  • The Yoruba culture holds that the Land-God genus: Obatala likewise created the human race from clay.

  • According to the Koran (genus: Islam), their Sky-God created man from clay incubated into a drop of blood.

  • In Norse Mythology, Sky-Gods made humans from sand in tree trunks.

  • Ancient Mayan Creation Myth begins with two Gods (Kukulkan and Tepeu) trying to make man out of mud (but the mud crumbled), and eventually making man out of maize, the Mayan staple and sacred food.

  • And of course, according to the Christian Mythology of Genesis 2:7 God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
