The Catholic church lives off the concept of your sins. Everybody is born with what is called Original Sin except for the virgin Mary who had what is called an Immaculate Conception. This mean s thatthe stain of Original Sin had been removed from her. This implies that her subsequent rape by the Holy Ghost to conceive Jesus Christ, the Son of God, had been planned for some 20 years. The concept of confessions to a member of the clergy was an instrument to maintain an absolute monopoly in contacting God. Confessions made directly to God were deemed worthless. Nowadays, thanks to technology, you can be absolved of any sin by going to any automated confession booth in your town. If Jesus Christ died for our sins, dare we make his martyrdom meaningless by not committing them? Of course, since Jesus was resurrected, he never quite died for us. He was asleep for three days.
